High-Protein Starbucks: Best Orders and Exact Protein

The best high-protein order at Starbucks is the Iced Sugar-Free Vanilla Protein Matcha: 31g of protein for 210 calories, or 15g of protein per 100 calories. Every number on this page comes from Starbucks' own nutrition data, checked October 2, 2026.

Starbucks has a real protein menu now: lattes and matchas made with what it calls Protein-boosted Milk, a few drinks topped with protein cold foam, and some breakfast food that holds its own. The drinks are where most of the protein is. A grande Iced Protein Matcha lists 31g of protein for 260 calories, more protein than the Bacon, Sausage & Egg Wrap (27g) at well under half its 640 calories.

The 5 best high-protein Starbucks orders

Every Starbucks item with real protein, ranked

Drinks are grande; food is one item. I left out anything with less protein than a string cheese, along with standard drinks like a plain latte, which show up in the protein swaps further down instead.

Easy ways to add protein at Starbucks

The simplest move is ordering the protein version of a drink you already get. Here’s what that swap changes, using Starbucks’ own numbers for both drinks.

Instead ofOrderProteinCalories
Caffè LatteSugar-Free Vanilla Protein Latte+14g+40
Iced Caffè LatteIced Sugar-Free Vanilla Protein Latte+21g+70
Matcha LatteProtein Matcha+17g+80
Iced Matcha LatteIced Protein Matcha+22g+70
Cold BrewVanilla Protein Cream Cold Brew+17g+295

Starbucks also lets you add protein cold foam to other drinks, but it doesn’t publish nutrition for the foam by itself, so I can’t tell you exactly what it adds.

Make it at home

If the egg bites are your usual order, my egg muffins are the closest thing on this site: eggs and fillings baked into single portions you can reheat through the week. The overnight oats are my version of the packaged protein oats Starbucks sells, and the cottage cheese egg bake is the batch version for a full week of breakfasts.

FAQ

Does Starbucks have protein drinks?

Yes. Starbucks has a protein menu built on what it calls Protein-boosted Milk: protein lattes and protein matchas, hot or iced, plus sugar-free versions of each. A grande Iced Sugar-Free Vanilla Protein Latte lists 29g of protein for 200 calories. It also sells drinks topped with protein cold foam and bottled Koia protein shakes.

How much protein is in a Starbucks protein latte?

In a grande, Starbucks lists 27g for the hot Vanilla Protein Latte and 29g for the iced one. The sugar-free versions keep the same protein for fewer calories: 200 for the iced sugar-free vanilla against 270 for the regular iced vanilla.

What is Starbucks protein milk?

It's what Starbucks calls Protein-boosted Milk, the base of its protein lattes and matchas. Starbucks doesn't publish nutrition for the milk on its own, so the clearest way to see what it adds is to compare two drinks: a grande Caffè Latte lists 13g of protein, and a grande Sugar-Free Vanilla Protein Latte lists 27g.

What is Starbucks protein cold foam?

It's a cold foam topping made with protein, used on drinks like the Vanilla Protein Cream Cold Brew (17g of protein and 300 calories in a grande). Starbucks doesn't list the foam's nutrition by itself, so I can only give numbers for the drinks it comes on. Those drinks carry less protein and more calories than the protein lattes.

How much protein is in the Starbucks protein matcha?

Starbucks' nutrition panel lists 31g for a grande Iced Protein Matcha and 28g for the hot Protein Matcha. The iced drink's product description gives a higher number than its own nutrition panel, so I go with the panel.

What's in a Starbucks protein box?

Starbucks' menu lists two protein boxes, both built around cheese and crackers: the Apples & Cheese Trio Protein Box (22g of protein, 470 calories) and the Cheese Trio Protein Box (20g of protein, 520 calories). That's a lot more calories per gram of protein than the protein drinks.

Where these numbers come from

Nutrition checked October 2, 2026 against Starbucks' official nutrition information. Drinks are grande (16 fl oz) with the standard recipe unless noted. Numbers come from the nutrition panel on each item's Starbucks menu page.
